"Fast fashion" has contributed to a culture of waste in which clothing is readily thrown away rather than being repaired, re-used, or recycled. Moving to "slow fashion" and encouraging secondhand use of apparel or recycling fibers for other industrial uses are ways to reduce the impacts of the fashion industry. Every ton of reused discarded textiles prevents 20 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
