False Solutions

False Solutions

The Myth of Quick Fixes

False solutions, often referred to as 'silver bullet' technologies, are frequently used to justify the continued extraction of fossil fuels under the guise of 'business as usual.' These technologies are presented as means to solve or mitigate climate change; however, they are unproven, may have adverse side effects, or might even exacerbate the problem. By distracting from or delaying the implementation of effective, currently available solutions that significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect our natural carbon sinks, these false solutions do more harm than good.
