The South Mediterranean Mixed Woodlands & Forests bioregion is located in the North Africa subrealm of Southern Eurasia (southern Palearctic) and contains five ecoregions—Mediterranean Conifer and Mixed Forests (701), Mediterranean High Atlas Juniper Steppe (758), Mediterranean Acacia-Argania Dry Woodlands and Succulent Thickets (796), Mediterranean Dry Woodlands and Steppe (797), Mediterranean Woodlands and Forests (798)—totaling approximately 78 million hectares of land area.

The South Mediterranean Mixed Woodlands & Forests bioregion is part of the North Africa subrealm and is made up of five ecoregions: (1) Mediterranean Acacia-Argania Dry Woodlands and Succulent Thickets (2) Mediterranean High Atlas Juniper Steppe (3) Mediterranean Woodlands and Forests (4) Mediterranean Dry Woodlands and Steppe (5) Mediterranean Conifer and Mixed Forests.
