The South Mediterranean Mixed Woodlands & Forests bioregion is located in the Southern Eurasia realm (southern Palearctic) and contains five ecoregions – Mediterranean Conifer and Mixed Forests (701), Mediterranean High Atlas Juniper Steppe (758), Mediterranean Acacia-Argania Dry Woodlands and Succulent Thickets (796), Mediterranean Dry Woodlands and Steppe (797), Mediterranean Woodlands and Forests (798) – totaling approximately 78 million hectares of land area.
