The South Australian Mediterranean bioregion, located in the Australia subrealm, consists mostly of woodlands and shrublands covering much of the length of Australia’s southern and western coastline, from St. Vincent Gulf to Shark Bay. The bioregion contains eight ecoregions—Coolgardie Woodlands [197], Esperance Mallee [198], Eyre and Yorke Mallee [199], Flinders-Lofty Montane Woodlands [200], Hampton Mallee and Woodlands [201], Jarrah-Karri Forest and Shrublands [202], Southwest Australia Savanna [205], Southwest Australia Woodlands [206]—and adjacent marine areas in the Great Australian Bight and Indian Ocean.
