The Greater Tibetan Plateau bioregion is part of the Tibetan Plateau subrealm located in the Eastern Eurasia realm (eastern Palearctic). It contains seven ecoregions—Qilian Mountains Conifer Forests (705), Central Tibetan Plateau Alpine Steppe (750), North Tibetan Plateau-Kunlun Mountains Alpine Desert (759), Qilian Mountains Subalpine Meadows (763), Southeast Tibet Shrublands and Meadows (765), Tibetan Plateau Alpine Shrublands and Meadows (768), Qaidam Basin Semi-Desert (835)—totaling more than 202 million hectares of land area.
The Greater Tibetan Plateau bioregion is part of the Tibetan Plateau subrealm and is made up of seven ecoregions: (1) North Tibetan Plateau-Kunlun Mountains Alpine Desert (2) Central Tibetan Plateau Alpine Steppe (3) Qaidam Basin Semi-Desert (4) Qilian Mountains Subalpine Meadows (5) Qilian Mountains Conifer Forests (6) Tibetan Plateau Alpine Shrublands and Meadows (7) Southeast Tibet Shrublands and Meadows.
