The Southern Mixed Forests bioregion, located in the Southeast U.S. Savannas & Forests subrealm of Northern America, consists of a swathe of forests through eastern Texas surrounded on two sides by Blackland prairie, with a large area of pines to the north. The bioregion consists of three ecoregions – East Central Texas Savanna-Woodland (332), Piney Woods Forests (363), Texas Blackland Prairies (401) – and includes the Sabine River. The total area of this bioregion is approximately 25 million hectares.

The Southern Mixed Forests & Blackland Prairies bioregion is part of the Southeast U.S. Savannas & Forests subrealm and is made up of three ecoregions: (1) Texas Blackland Prairies (2) East Central Texas Savanna-Woodland (3) Piney Woods Forests.
