The Peninsular Malaysian & Sumatran Tropical Rainforests bioregion is located in the Southeast Asian Forests subrealm of Indomalaya and contains ten ecoregions – Mentawai Islands Rainforests (245), Sumatran Montane Rainforests (279), Sumatran Lowland Rainforests (278), Sumatran Tropical Pine Forests (305), Sumatran Freshwater Swamp Forests (277), Sumatran Peat Swamp Forests (280), Peninsular Malaysian Rainforests (265), Peninsular Malaysian Peat Swamp Forests (264), Peninsular Malaysian Montane Rainforests (263), Sunda Shelf Mangroves (322) — totaling nearly 62 million hectares of land area with extensive surrounding marine areas.
