The Greater Deccan-Sri Lankan Forests & Drylands bioregion is located within the Indian Subcontinent subrealm in Indomalaya and contains six ecoregions – Central Deccan Plateau Dry Deciduous Forests [1], Deccan Thorn Scrub Forests [2], South Deccan Plateau Dry Deciduous Forests [3], East Deccan Dry-Evergreen Forests [4], Sri Lanka Dry-Zone Dry Evergreen Forests [5], Godavari-Krishna Mangroves [6] – totaling approximately 73 million hectares of land area.
